Beau von Berna

Beau von Berna is a beautiful 2 year old German Shepherd.
Per her own words, “Hi, my name is Beau. Someone gave me a boy’s name but a nice volunteer told me that it really is short for ‘Beauty’ or ‘Beautiful.’ I guess I’m okay with that! I am a medium-to-high energy dog and, since I’m still young, I forget my manners sometimes and bound out of my kennel excitedly. The kennel techs always correct me and, since I love them so much, I listen to them and try to calm down. I walk well on leash and even the first-time dog walkers say I am very manageable. I meet passing dogs a little pushily (or so they tell me) but after walking next to them awhile, I start showing my sweet, friendly side. I am extremely happy and active - I heard some volunteers call me a wiggle bunny when they took me out for a walk. I love when you kiss and cuddle me and want to return the favor! I am extremely loving but I don’t want to sit at home on the couch all day, so would you add some hikes and long walks into my daily schedule as well? I might seem very energetic initially but I promise that, once I get my exercise, I can be a really calm, mellow and sweet girl. I do well in playgroups; mostly I like to sniff out the yard (love going to new places!) and then, once I say hi to everyone, I am pretty over it. Everyone is surprised at how calm I am around the other dogs, but I just don’t want to mess up my hair by tumbling around with them. I hope you come down and meet me soon; I can’t wait to say hi to my new family.
